Apple to merge with Sun? Is that the real reason Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt, joined Apple's board? The speculation is that because of Schmidt's Sun connections, he may be the one to bring together the two companies, acting as the middle man who keeps it all together. Another reason would be that Apple is looking to get into the enterprise server side of the hardware business but they don't really have the credibility in that market to make much of a difference yet. That is where Sun would come in. Would come in if this were to ever happen. For now it remains just a rumor.  ¶ 5:35 AM
