Hardware: Up and coming lightweights from IBM, Dell
Dell (pictured) and IBM coming out strong with feather weight laptops. Dell's Latitude X1 weighs a tiny 2.5 pounds and packs in (can be further configured) a 1.1GHz pentium M 733, wireless networking (for those late nights at Panera Bread) 256 MB of RAM and a not-too-shabby 30 gig. IBM flings out a 2.7 lb ThinkPad labeled the Teeny Weeny ThinkPad. Ok, not really. IT's really being labeled the ThinkPad X41 has includes the fingerprint reader found in other ThinkPads as well as a 1.5GHz Pentium M 758 processor and a 12.1-inch screen. This model will start at a pricetag of $1,999. The Dell has a base price of $1,700.
