Hardware: Hitachi - here comes 20 gig microdrives!
They are basically making use of perpendicular recording. They're able to fit a whopping 230 gigabits per square inch (Gb/in2). This basically "represents a doubling of today's highest longitudinal recording densities, will be implemented in commercial hard drive products in 2007". So they're hoping to have this new and imporve storve drives in our hands in or by 2007. Watch out for the mega photo-video-music ipod giant I'm sure will be coming down the pipe around then.
