  Cars: Hacked Hybrid-Car gets up to 180 mpg, oil now obsolete
Ok that last part wasn't true but in this article from the New York times these hybrid hackers talk about how they modify their Toyota Prius hybrid so you're able to plug it in overnight. This apparently saves a lot of fuel. "If you cover people's daily commute, maybe they'll go to the gas station once a month..." ...wow... and these aren't popular why?
